“Create a digital course”
“Start a group program”
“Launch a high-level mastermind”
“Offer a 5-figure VIP Day to attract high-end clients”
Like you, I’ve heard from many internet-famous “gurus” that these things (and more) are THE WAY to scale your business.
But here’s the part they’re most often leaving out…
What worked for them is not necessarily going to work for you. In fact, it’s probably not going to work for you (at least right now.)
First of all, they most likely have a much bigger audience to leverage and their business model isn’t necessarily suited to your niche and ideal client.
Also, the path they chose (and found success with) may not be in alignment with what you actually want to do.
And that last reason is exactly why I decided to go with my gut and start a podcast instead of creating a high-ticket group program.
BTW – if you haven’t heard, SURPRISE! The Captivate & Convert Podcast is coming next month! Eeeeek!!
The point is, I’m fully booked with client work a majority of the time, so I was definitely intrigued by the idea of a group program to leverage my time and make more money (nothing wrong with wanting to make more money yo.)
I even started creating content for it; bought the domain and everything. But something just wasn’t sitting right with me.
I never wanted to work on it. I kept putting off the launch date. I couldn’t make up my mind about small details. The truth is, I just wasn’t that into it. The potential to make more money wasn’t enough motivation.
And then there was the podcast…
I actually bought a podcasting course 4 years ago but never did anything with it. I kept getting these little internal whispers about it and people would say, “you should start a podcast!” I was drawn to podcasting but I ignored it because the mentors I follow were preaching THEIR WAY.
The truth is, there is no ONE WAY or even a BEST WAY to grow and scale your business. The only way you need is YOUR WAY.
If you’re called to a certain something, there’s a reason. Listen to it.
It’ll be more fun, things will fall into place a whole lot easier, and you’ll be more successful in the long run than if you try to follow a formula that wasn’t meant for you.
That’s not to say there’s anything wrong with online courses or high-level masterminds. I still might launch something like that at some point in the future but it will definitely have to be a full on HELL YES in my gut if I’m going to do it.
